Board of Directors (elected November 2018):
Scott Burns – President of the Board has been on the Board of Pegasus for 11 years. His son, Gavin, has been at Pegasus for some 20 years. Scott is a retired urban planner and professional economic developer. He practiced planning consulting for 30 years and was originally with the City of Toronto Planning Department. Currently Scott is the President of the Simcoe Chapter of Lambda Alpha – an international honorary land economics group.
Joe Molnar – Vice President enjoys the rich experience of living by the St Lawrence Market. Alongside Pegasus, Joe is on the Advisory Board for Engineering Science at the University of Toronto, and is a founding Board Director for CoEng Advisors, an energy conservation company. Through his company Eastcurve Inc, he provides advisory services to banks, telcos and technology companies. Joe shares his passion for adventure sports with his wife Cathy, his children and his grandson. Joe chairs the Governance committee.
Sharmila Ghosh – Treasurer brings with her over 20 years of experience in financial services, working in Canada, India and the Middle East. Her experience in the corporate sector has developed her skills in a variety of areas and sparked a keen desire to participate in the non-profit sector through volunteering and community involvement. Over the last two years she has been an active member of the board. Her interests include reading, travel and experience new cultures. She is always looking for new challenges and opportunities to learn, develop and contribute. Sharmila chairs the Finance committee.
Antonia Hammer – Director became a personal attendant in 2004 and has been working in disability services and accessibility in various roles ever since. She has a Masters degree in Disability Studies from York University and has worked for organizations including Easter Seals, March of Dimes and with many public sector organizations providing advice on accessibility and AODA compliance. She would like to continue to work with the Board to ensure the sustainability and continued growth of Pegasus’ unique and progressive services. Antonia is on the Governance Committee.
Marg Ewing – Director was an original Pegasus Board member and has served on the Board ever since. Her daughter Sarah is in the program. She spends three days a week at Matty Ekler and two at Beaches. Marg organizes the Bingo volunteer schedule. After a career in teaching she and her husband ran The Great Escape book store for 15 years. She is now retired and Pegasus is just one of the things that keeps her busy. Marg is on the Fundraising committee.
Lindsay Reimers – Director joined Pegasus as a summer student in 2003. After several summers of working with us she graduated from King’s College at the University of Western Ontario with an Honours BA in Child Psychology in 2006. At that time she came to work at Pegasus as a full time Program Counsellor and then became the first supervisor at SH Armstrong when Pegasus opened its fourth location. Despite leaving her job at Pegasus Lindsay remained active in our community and was invited to join the Board of Directors in 2013. She now lives nearby with her husband David and their young son Zeven. She works as a Realtor with the local Royal LePage Estate Realty. Lindsay chairs the Fundraising committee.
Laurel Reid – Director joined the board earlier this year and is thrilled to be part of such an impactful community organization.
Her day job is in policy, strategy and governance, currently at TD Bank where she supports regulatory compliance in the anti-money laundering and sanctions department. She has previously worked in data management, also at TD Bank, the Centre for International Governance Innovation based in Waterloo, and in the micro-finance sector in East Africa. She holds degrees from the University of Toronto and Wilfrid Laurier University in international relations and public policy. She also volunteers with other Toronto-based non-profits, providing strategy and business guidance.
On the weekend she can be found out hiking or at the symphony, where she generally nods off after an hour.
