Relief (Elect to Work) - Day Program Counsellor

Job Description:  To implement programs and provide personal support for adults with developmental and physical disabilities.

Responsibilities:  As a member of a staff support team, to implement a wide range of programs both on site & offsite.  To facilitate participation in community life through activities in the areas of life skill development, fitness and recreation, work and volunteering.  The successful candidate will work from several community program sites and accompany participants as they access the community.  Offer support as needed to adults with developmental disabilities.  To carry out related administrative duties.

Qualifications:    Minimum of a 2 year college diploma or a 3 year university degree in a related field.  2 years of experience in the field of developmental disabilities.  Ability to work cooperatively as part of a support team.  Display progressive attitude and approach toward people with disabilities.  A valid certificate in First Aid and CPR, and experience in medication administration.  Experience in forming and mantaining relationships with families and other support persons.  Ability and desire to be active and mobile within the community.  Ability to respond to a varying range of job requirements.  Excellent communication and organizational skills.  Successful completion of the hiring process is dependent on the receipt of a positive Police Check.

Hours:  On Call, Daytime hours only, Monday to Saturday

Compensation:  Competitive Hourly Rate.
